Zak Jones of the Sydney Swans won’t be joining the Melbourne Demons and his older brother Nathan as he’s committed himself to his current club at least until the conclusion of the 2017 AFL season. The 20-year-old’s contract was scheduled to expire at the end of the 2015 campaign, but AFL.com has reported that he has agreed to terms with Sydney on a new two-year contract. His brother Nathan is the Demons’ skipper and many fans and experts believed Jones would be tempted to join him in Melbourne. Fans and bettors can back either of the Jones brothers with a CrownBet AFL Brownlow Medal Bonus Bet.
Nathan Jones signed a new four-year deal with the Demons near the end of 2014 and at that time it was believed Zak would eventually join him. Jones was the 15th overall pick in the NAB AFL Draft in 2013 and the first player selected by the Swans. It appears the club has successfully convinced him that his football future lies with them at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He made his senior debut last season and finished the year with four appearances. However, he was unable to suit up for the team in their finals campaign as Jones suffered an injured Achilles tendon injury late in the campaign. There are plenty of excellent choices to back this year with a CrownBet AFL Brownlow Medal Bonus Bet.
Jones, who formerly played with the Dandenong Stingrays, hasn’t appeared in a senior contest so far this season, but has impressed the Swans with his performances in the NEAFL. He has been named one of his side’s best players in four out of six games for the Swans’ reserve squad up to now. Jones captured the most valuable player award with Vic Country at the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships in 2013 and was also named to the Australian squad as a defender. Be sure to take advantage of a CrownBet AFL Brownlow Medal Bonus Bet during the 2015 footy season.
