Rory Laird re-signs with Adelaide Crows

The Adelaide Crows announced on June 22 that they have come to contract terms on a new three-year deal with Rory Laird. The club now has him under contract until the end of the 2018 AFL campaign. The defender has been ranked as one of the club’s best players so far this season as he’s been averaging close to 23 possessions per contest, which is up greatly from the 16 per game he achieved in 2014. Be sure to back the Crows and Laird this year with a CrownBet AFL Head to Head Bet.

Laird’s disposal efficiency this year has been 81.1 per cent and ranks second to fellow defender Luke Brown’s 81.8 per cent ranking. However, Brown’s average touches per game are lower than Laird’s. The 21-year-old Laird said he’s improved this year due to the hard work he had put in and due to the boost in confidence he’s received. Laird told the media after the signing,

I was out of the side last year and that was my goal to come back into the team at the start of the year and lock down a position. A bit of work over the summer with a couple of coaches has helped me with my disposal and it’s showing on game day with me kicking the ball a bit better than I was last year.

A weekly CrownBet AFL Head to Head Bet is the ideal way to back your favourite footy teams this season.

Rory Laird re-signs with Adelaide Crows Phil WalshLaird said he’s more comfortable in the league now because he’s been gaining confidence and experience with each game he plays. He remarked that his goal is to put in a consistently good performance week in and week out. Head coach Phil Walsh agreed with his player and was pleased he’s signed on for a few more years. Walsh believes Laird will be a key player for the side ‘s backline for the next several seasons. Fans and bettors can take advantage of a CrownBet AFL Head to Head Bet each round of the current campaign.

Walsh went on to say, “Rory has been one of our most consistent performers this season with his fierce attack on the footy and opposition. He is another one of those players who epitomizes the team-first attitude and I think most would agree that he has taken his game to another level. Laird and the Crows will be back in action at the Gabba on Saturday, June 27 when Adelaide faces the Brisbane Lions. The Lions shouldn’t be in much of a mood as they were hammered by 72 points at the hands of the Western Bulldogs in 12th round action. However, the seventh-place Crows can’t afford to underestimate the Lions as a loss would knock them out of the league’s top eight on the ladder. Don’t forget to have a punt on the Crows vs Lions match with a CrownBet AFL Head to Head Bet.
