The Richmond Tigers should have defender Troy Chaplin back in their lineup this Saturday, May 2 when they meet the Geelong Cats at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. They’re also hoping Chris Newman will be able to suit up as well. The pair of veterans were duly missed by the Tigers last weekend when they fell in their round four match by 32 points to the Melbourne Demons. Chaplin missed the contest with a calf injury while Newman sat out due to back problems. Be sure to back the Tigers this season with a CrownBet AFL Head to Head Bet before each of their games.
Peter Burge, the physical performance manager for Richmond told the press,
Troy’s injury was pretty minor, but he just wasn’t good enough to play last week. He came off a pretty hard deck at the Gabba, played a lot of game time at pretty high intensity and pulled up a bit sore. But we’re expecting him to play this week. Chris copped a pretty big knock to the back last week … and we just couldn’t get him up to play. But this week we’re hoping he can train and hopefully be available for selection.
No matter which footy team you support don’t forget to lay a wager on them all season long with a CrownBet AFL Head to Head Bet.
According to Burge, both Dylan Grimes and Reece Conca will be available for selection this week as they’ve recovered from their recent hamstring injuries. The bad news for the side and it fans is that Ben Griffiths will be on the shelf for a week or two with a calf injury that he suffered in the defeat to the Demons. In addition, it looks like Brett Deledio will miss at least one more round of action with a calf injury which he suffered in the season opener. The Tigers also found out last week that Nathan Drummond is gone for the remainder of the 2015 after tearing his right anterior cruciate ligament. Burge is confident the youngster will be back with the squad for the 2016 preseason.
Don’t forget the Richmond Tigers (2-2) will clash with the Geelong Cats (1-3) this Saturday, May 2 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and you can have a punt at the game with a CrownBet AFL Head to Head Bet.
