Hawthorn won their second straight AFL Grand Final in 2014 and their 12th overall premiership with a 63-point win (137-74) over the Sydney Swans. The game took place in front of close to 100,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The team’s fans are backing them in the BetEasy AFL Grand Final wagering again this year as they hope the squad can win three in a row. The 2015 Grand Final will be the 119th annual affair since it was first held back in 1898. Last September’s game was a gala celebration of the sport and featured England’s Ed Sheeran and Welsh legend Tom Jones as the pre-game entertainers with Olivia Newton-John handling the national anthem.
Sydney made it to the Grand Final after finishing as minor premiers last season. They beat Fremantle and then managed to defeat North Melbourne by 71 points in their preliminary final. Hawthorn finished the season as runners up to Sydney in the table and reached the Grand Final by handing Geelong a 36-point loss in their qualifying final. Hawthorn then beat Port Adelaide by just three points in the second preliminary final. All of last year’s contenders should gain a lot of attention in this season’s BetEasy AFL Grand Final wagering market.
Hawthorn and Sydney met twice during the 2014 season with Hawthorn earning a 10-point victory in round 18 in Melbourne after Sydney took a 19-point win in round eight at ANZ Stadium. With both of those contests being relatively close, it was hard for bettors to predict a 63-point margin of victory when wagering on the 2014 BetEasy AFL Grand Final. It was the second Grand Final meeting between the two sides as they met just a couple of years before in the 2012 match, which Sydney captures by 10 points. Hawthorn bounced back in 2013 by beating Fremantle to win the Grand Final and will be aiming to make it three on the trot in 2015. Thousands of fans will be betting on them to achieve via BetEasy AFL Grand Final wagering.
